How CBT Canary Wharf Got Started
My vision for a CBT practice based in Canary Wharf started in 2000 when I first moved to East London. I wanted to provide a CBT Service to those people living and working in the Canary Wharf area. At the time, I lived within walking distance to Cabot Square and Canada Place and was spending four hours travelling to and from work each day. Like a lot of people in London, I was coming home knackered. I fantasised about working nearer to home, and offering my skills to the employees and residents in the Canary Wharf area. Seven years later, and CBT Canary Wharf is the result of patience, self-belief, hard work, and determination.
My Approach
When I work with clients/patients, I am very aware that I may be the first person they are opening up to about their problems. With that, I appreciate how difficult that may be. My aim is to listen, without judging, and to help my clients feel “understood”. I try to see their problems from their perspective; to see the world from their viewpoint. I also work towards establishing a “trusting” relationship; without trust, it is difficult to open up about painful issues.
